Wenge wood, scientifically known as Millettia laurentii or commonly referred to as African rosewood, is a dark-colored hardwood native to the central regions of Africa, particularly the Congo Basin, Cameroon, Gabon, and other countries in West Africa. Wenge wood is highly valued for its distinctive dark brown to nearly black color, bold grain patterns, and durability, making it a popular choice for high-end woodworking and furniture making.
Grain Pattern : One of the most distinctive features of wenge wood is its bold and pronounced grain pattern. It typically exhibits straight, parallel grain lines that run the length of the board, creating a visually appealing and dynamic texture.
Texture : Wenge wood has a coarse texture with a slightly oily feel. It has a natural luster that enhances its appearance when polished or finished, giving it a smooth and sleek surface.
