Central and South America : The most well-known source of genuine mahogany (Swietenia spp.) is the forests of Central and South America. Historically, Honduras mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) from countries like Honduras, Belize, and Nicaragua was highly prized for its quality and abundance. These species are valued for their timber but may differ in appearance and properties from genuine mahogany.
