How should plywood be stored and handled to maintain its quality and prevent damage?

Proper storage and handling of plywood are essential to maintain its quality and prevent damage.

Store Indoors : Plywood should be stored indoors in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area. Avoid exposing plywood to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture, as these can cause warping, delamination, or mold growth.

Flat Storage : Plywood should be stored flat on a level surface to prevent warping or bending. Use pallets or racks to elevate the plywood off the ground and ensure even support across the entire surface.

Stacking : If stacking multiple sheets of plywood, stack them evenly with spacers between each sheet to allow for air circulation. Avoid stacking too many sheets high, as excessive weight can cause the bottom sheets to deform.

Protect Edges : Protect the edges of plywood sheets from damage by using edge protectors or covering them with cardboard or foam strips. Sharp impacts or pressure on the edges can lead to chipping or splintering.

Covering : If storing plywood outdoors temporarily, cover the stack with a waterproof tarp or plastic sheeting to protect it from rain, snow, and moisture. Ensure the covering is securely fastened to prevent water from seeping in.
